Charles Coale Price III was born in Passaic, New Jersey on July 13, 1913. He was educated at Swarthmore College and the University of Illinois. He did postdoctoral studies under Roger Adams and was active in the Rubber reserve Program during WW II. After the war he taught at Notre Dame University and then at the University of Pennsylvania where he served as department chair and was instrumental in the creation of the Center for the History of Chemistry, as the Chemical Heritage Foundation was originally called. Dr. Price was long active in the Nuclear Disarmament and World Federalism movements. He died at his home in Haverford, PA on February 11, 2001.

Charles C. Price, III, was a Quaker professor of chemistry at the University of Pennsylvania and Chairman of the Board of Managers of Swarthmore College, his alma mater. He was the son of Thornton Walton Price and Helen Marot Farley and active in the peace movement. He died in 2001.
