Hide Profile

In 1983 Des Moines businessman and promoter John Ruan hired Kendall Griffith Russell Artiaga Architects (KGRA) to design his proposed Iowa World Trade Center for the state's capital city.Modeled on 5 existing trade centers around the country, Iowa's center was to focus on agri-business. The planned 30-story building was to occupy the block of land between 5th and 6th Avenues and Grand Avenue and Keosauqua Way in downtown Des Moines. The project ultimately did not come to fruition. KGRA also designed the Ruan Center in Des Moines in the 1970s. For a time KGRA maintained offices in that complex.
