Israel L. Adams was a merchant and farmer of Natchez, Mississippi. He had six children, Harriet Catharine, Mary Eliza, Franklin Oliver (Frank), Orlander Percival, Marey, and Laura. Several members of the Adams family lived in Tensas Parish, Louisiana. Frank O. Adams and his cousins, James and Theodore, fought in the Confederate Army. Orlander attended Mississippi College in the 1850s. The Adams family was associated with the Zingline and Shupan families.
