Joint commission appointed under the Treaty of Ghent to set the northern boundary through the St. Lawrence River, and Lakes Ontario, Erie, and Huron. Peter B. Porter represented the United States, and John Ogilvy represented Great Britain. A preliminary meeting was held in Albany, N.Y., 18 Nov. 1816; several more meetings were held over the next three years. The British commissioner died in Sept. 1819; he was succeeded by Anthony Barclay. Separate reports by the commissioners were made to their respective governments in the fall of 1827.
