With its headquarters in Buffalo since 1914 and Albany since 1962, Associated Industries monitored legislation (e.g. workman's compensation, unemployment insurance, environmental pollution, and cost and quality of education) in order to promote legislation favorable to business. Associated Industries of New York State is a direct predecessor of The Business Council of New York State, Inc., which was formed in 1980 by the merger of Associated Industries and the Empire State Chamber of Commerce.
