The Florida High Technology and Industry Council was created by the Legislature (Ch. 83-326, Laws) to promote development of the high technology in order to diversify the state economy. This is accomplished through the joint efforts of the Dept. of Education and public and private postsecondary/vocational educational institutions, the Executive Office of the Governor, other executive agencies, and leaders in high technology business and industry. The Council also coordinates the Applied Research Grants Program, a university-based grants program designed to support the development and application of advanced technology initiatives.
