BIOGHIST REQUIRED Frederick Beygrau was born in London in 1873. Beygrau received his early education in London, and then attended the Commercial High School in Chemnitz, Germany.

In 1909 Beygrau was installed as a professor of stenography at Teachers College, the first professor of stenography in any American University. He left his position at Columbia in 1913, but continued to teach stenography at high scools in NYC and Westchester. Throughout his career he also taught stenography courses at both the west and east side branches of the Young Man's Christian Association.
