Missionary kid; born Helen Ruth Supplee 1922 in India to missionary parents; in 1939 she came to Wheaton College, where she met her future husband, sang for campus events and for Billy Graham's services at the Union Tabernacle, attended the Boethallian Literary Society and the Foreign Missions Fellowship on campus, taught Bible classes at a local children's home, and married.
