Black, J. L. (Joseph Laurence), 1937-
Variant namesJoseph Black was born in Newark, New Jersey on July 15, 1804. He was elected Alderman for the Ninth Ward in Newark, New Jersey in 1855. He also was a Trustee of and Secretary of the Board for the Franklin School Associates, and was a member of the New Jersey Historical Society. Black married Rebecca Hardenblach, with whom he had two sons, Edward and William. Black died at the home of his son, Edward S. Black, on May 10, 1887.
