Phillips, Betty Austin, b. ca. 1920
Harold K. Phillips was born around 1915, the son of Herbert C. Phillips of Valley Township, Kansas, and Ruby E. Edwards (later Mrs. Ruby Barnes of Topeka, Kansas). In the mid-1930s, Harold Phillips and his brother Bill moved to Great Falls, Montana, where they co-owned a garage. In the spring of 1938, Phillips joined the United States Navy; he trained at the United States Naval Training Station at San Diego, California, and was later stationed on the USS Antares . On October 13, 1938, Phillips married Betty Austin (b. ca. 1920), the daughter of Clyde Austin and Mollie Wade (later Mollie Burst of La Harpe, Kansas).
