She earned the equivalent to a B.S. from Hellerau in Laxenburg, Austria in 1929. Her M.S.W. was awarded by Wayne State University (Michigan) in 1949 and her Ph.D. by the University of Minnesota in 1954. Before joining the faculty of the University of Minnesota in 1949, Dr. Saloshin was employed by the YWCA and Girl Scouts in the field of social group work (1939-1948). From 1949 until her retirement in 1972, Dr. Saloshin held the ranks of instructor, assistant professor, associate professor and professor emeritus in the School of Social Work. Dr. Saloshin's research during her tenure at the University focused on retirement and aging; she was considered one of the nations premier scholars in the field of gerontology. Dr. Saloshin died in April 1999.
