James Edward Neild arrived in Melbourne in 1853. He combined work as an M.D. with editing the Australian medical journal (1862-1879) and lecturing in forensic medicine at the University of Melbourne (1865-1904). He was also theatrical critic for the Australasian under the names of 'Jacques' and later 'Tahite'.

Fairlie Taylor, born Addie Lilian Fairlam in Cheltenham, Vic. was for a time a teacher at the Presbyterian Ladies College, East Melbourne.
