Wesley C. (Jack) Ledbetter arrived in the Encampment area of Wyoming in 1896. He was employed as superintendent at the Portland Mine near Battle, Wyoming, and he held interests in other mining properties. When mining became unprofitable, he engaged in cattle ranching on Indian Creek. He married Eva B. Ames and died in Saratoga, Wyoming in 1957, while living with his stepdaughter, Helen D'Esterre.
