Mahoney (Boston University, B.S., 1936, and M.S. in education, 1942) was executive secretary of the Massachusetts Governor's Commission for Racial and Religious Understanding from 1943 until 1946, when she was appointed chairman of the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination, a position she held until 1964.
