University of Oregon. Center for the Study of Women in Society
Variant namesJoan Acker, Miriam Johnson, UO President Robert Clark and other notable faculty founded the Center for the Sociological Study of Women (CSSW) at the UO in 1973. A $3.5 million grant by William Harris and Jane Grant in 1983 allowed the CSSW to grow and become the much larger Center for the Study of Women in Society (CSWS).
