Vucanovich, Barbara F., 1921-2013
Variant namesConservative Republican U.S. Congressman from Nev.'s second district, 1983-1996, and the first woman elected to a federal office in Nev. Vucanovich was the ranking minority member on the House Appropriations Committee and a member of several subcommittees of the Interior Committee. Barbara Farrell Dillon Vucanovich was born in 1921, in New Jersey and moved to Reno, Nev. in 1949. She managed Paul Laxalt's successful campaigns for Nev. governor and the U.S. Senate. She was also active in the national Republican Party. She retired from office in 1996.
