Hide Profile

The Michigan Natural Resources Council was a non-profit, non-private service organiaztion. The Council's goal was sound management of Michigan natural resources. The first Natural Resources Conference was held in 1955. Later that year it was decided that a permanent organization consisting of many organizations concerned with natural resources be established. Thus in 1956, with 53 organizations in attendance, by-laws for the permanent Council were adopted. The main thrust of the Council's activities was an annual report concerned with various facets of natural resources management. In the 1970's, several member organizations voiced dissatification with the Council for its lack of activity and for not being ahead of developments in the area. The Council disbanded in 1975.
