The New Hampshire Charitable Society was legally incorporated by Samuel Runnels, Simeon Dana, Leavitt Clough, and other New Hampshire residents in December 1812. Micajah Otis and Job Otis served as the society's treasurers in the early to mid-1800s.

The New Hampshire Charitable Society was established in December 11, 1812 and organized June 11, 1813 for the purpose of raising funds for the relief of destitute preachers of the gospel of the Free Will Baptist denomination or their spouses.
