Stanley William Joslin

Major General Stanley William Joslin (1899-1982) was educated at Hackney Downs School; the Royal Military Academy Woolwich; and Downing College, Cambridge.

In 1918, Joslin accepted a commission in the Royal Engineers; he transferred to the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers in 1943. He served in Germany (1918-1919), India (1920-1923), Nigeria (1926-1928), Singapore (1937-1939), World War II (1939-1945) and North West Europe (1944-1949), and attained the rank of Major General in 1950.

Joslin was appointed director of mechanical engineering at the War Office in 1950, joined the UK Atomic Energy Authority in 1954, and was appointed Chief Inspector of Nuclear Installations at the Ministry of Power in 1959 (to 1964). He was awarded the CBE (1950), CB (1951) and MBE (1936).
