Meade family.
Represented are three generations of the Meade and Fontaine families of Virginia. Included are Benjamin Lincoln Meade (1793-1851) of "Castlemont," Powhatan County; Jane Eliza (Hardaway) Meade (1801-1986) of Amelia and Powhatan counties and Richmond; Edmund Fontaine (1801-1869) of "Beaverdam," Hanover county; his wife, Maria Louisa (Shackelford) Fontaine (1807-1876); their daughter, Jane Catherine (Fontaine) Meade (1833-1909); her husband, Richard Hardaway Meade (1831-1880) of Richmond; and their children, Richard Hardaway Meade (1867-1951) and Lila Hardaway (Meade) Valentine (1865-1921), both of Richmond.
