After attaining his Ph.D. in 1969, George Thomas Tait became associate professor of Exercise and Sport Science at Pennsylvania State University, and head volleyball coach, 1972-1989, after helping both the men's and women's club teams to reach varsity status. He also coached the United States Olympic volleyball teams, 1984 and 1988. Tait retired from teaching at Penn State in 1996, and is currently Distinguished Service Professor of Exercise Science and Coaching at Brevard College.
