Burridge, Kenelm, 1922-

Kenelm Burridge was born in Malta and attended Oxford University where he completed his B.Litt. (1950) and M.A. (1952) in Anthropology. He then obtained a Ph.D. in this field from the Australian National University in 1953. Burridge has conducted fieldwork in New Guinea, Malaya, Australia and the Melanesian Islands. He held teaching positions in Baghdad, Oxford and Perth before joining the the University of British Columbia faculty in 1968.
