Van Noppen, Ina Woestemeyer, 1906-1980
Variant namesIna Faye Woestemeyer Van Noppen (1906-1980) and John James Van Noppen III (1906-1975) were a married couple who taught at Appalachian State Teachers College from 1947-1972. Ina Van Noppen taught history and wrote "The Westward movement: a book of readings on our changing frontiers" (1939), "The South: a documentary history" (1958) and "Stoneman's last raid" (1961). John Van Noppen taught English and researched Archibald Henderson and expected to write his biography. The Van Noppens co-wrote "Daniel Boone, Backwoodsman" (1966) and "Western North Carolina since the Civil War" (1973).
