Don Boswell Heller joined the staff at Winterthur Museum as objects conservator, specializing in metals, in 1974. Don first learned about metals from his father Herman J. Heller, a silversmith and metal restorer in Washington, D.C. When his father's business closed in 1958, Heller then became restoration supervisor for another Washington silverplating company. In addition to being a staff conservator, Heller taught metals conservation in the Winterthur/University of Delaware Program in Art Conservation (WUDPAC). Don Heller was born on June 23, 1926, and died on November 23, 1999.
