Muriel Lokey is an activist who served as director of the Poverty Rights Office (P.R.O) in Atlanta, Georgia. The Poverty Rights Office is an advocacy organization serving low-income residents of Atlanta by advising the poor of their rights and helping them receive available services. The P.R.O. is located in Emmaus House in the Atlanta neighborhood of Peoplestown. Austin Ford, the first rector at St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church in Atlanta founded Emmaus House in 1967. Emmaus House is an inner-city, interdenominational ministry sponsored by the Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta offering educational, social, recreational and spiritual opportunities.
