Variant namesL. Hopkins, 1846-1927, known as Hop, came to Australia from U.S.A. in 1883 to work on the Bulletin, Sydney as a cartoonist. In his youth he had enlisted to fight in the Civil War. He was also interested in etching, painting and violin making.
