Landscape artist. Born in New Zealand and raised in Sydney, Gruner exhibited regularly from 1901. He won the Wynne Prize seven times between 1916 and 1937. He was inspired by George Lambert, and Norman Lindsay was an important admirer of his work.

Landscape artist Elioth Gruner was considered 'the last of the Australian impressionist painters'. Born in New Zealand in 1882, he lived in Sydney from 1883 and exhibited regularly from 1901. He won the Wynne Prize seven times between 1916 and 1937. He was inspired by George Lambert, and his work admired by Norman Lindsay.
