Edward Taylor Jones (1872-1961) was Professor of Natural Philosophy at the University from 1925 until 1943. He was a keen member of the Staff Golf Club and was involved in the foundation of the College Club. He was awarded an LLD in 1944.
Born in Denbigh, Taylor Jones studied at University College of North Wales (UNCW) and the University of Berlin. He was Professor of of Physics at UNCW from 1889 until 1925.
Taylor Jones's research interests lay in the field of electromagnetism but he introduced courses in relativity, atomic physics and quantum theory at the University. He was President of the Royal Philosophical Society of Glasgow from 1937 to 1940.
