Augustana Overseas premiered in July 1947. It was published quarterly by the Lutheran Augustana Synod's Board of Foreign Missions (BFM), 2445 Park Avenue, Minneapolis, Minnesota. Its editor was Executive Director, S. Hjalmar Swanson. A typical issue of Augustana Overseas included brief articles pertaining to mission work, articles written by missionaries in the field, news about new missionaries, news about current missionaries, and general news about Augustana's mission work. Its last issue was published in July 1948. At that time it merged with the Augustana publication Pastor's Paragraphs to become Augustana Missions (see AUG 20/3). This periodical was published quarterly from October 1948 to May 1951. A second version of Augustana Overseas began publishing in 1951. It was also published by the BFM. Its editor was the Reverend Rudolph Burke, the Promotional Director for the BFM. It was published annually and included a summary of the previous year's progress in mission work overseas, and information pertaining to the needs in terms of personnel and material in each of Augustana's mission fields. It was published until 1956 when it was replaced by another version of Augustana Missions, which was published until 1960.
