Louisa Jane ("Lou") Harllee was the daughter of Dr. Robert Harllee (1807-1872), a physician, S.C. state legislator, and plantation owner (Melrose Plantation, now in present-day Florence County, S.C. near Mars Bluff) of Marion District (S.C.). Louisa Jane Harllee, a teacher, married J.F. Pearce.
