Hopkins, Owen Johnston, 1844-1902
Variant namesColonel Owen J. Hopkins (1844-1902) grew up in Bellefontaine, Ohio. He enlisted as a soldier at the age of seventeen and saw four years of fighting during the Civil War with the 42nd Ohio Volunteer Infantry and 182nd Ohio Volunteer Infantry. Hopkins was an artist and an engraver. Many of his paintings are based on memories from the Civil War.
