Louisiana State Depositary.

The Louisiana State Depositary was created by ordinances of the Convention of the State of Louisiana in 1861 to administer the funds deposited in the Sub-Treasury of the United States at New Orleans after the secession of Louisiana from the Union and prior to the transfer of the funds to the Confederate States of America. It was headed by A.J. Guirot, former treasurer of the United States Mint at New Orleans.
