Merryman, James M., 1844-1932
James M. Merryman was born in Harrison County, Ohio on February 10, 1844. In August of 1861 he enlisted in the 30th Ohio Volunteer Infantry, serving four years and participating in battles at South Mountain, Antietam, and the siege of Vicksburg. After the war, Merryman completed his education at Otterbein College and graduated in medicine from Western Reserve. He began medical practice in Hilliard, Ohio and later served in the 72nd Ohio General Assembly from 1897-1898.
