Bluford, Guion Stewart, Jr., 1943-78 - made Major in Air Force; one of three first black astronauts, part of 35-member team (stressing minorities and women) who began training at Johnson Space Center, Houston, July 1; was enrolled in Air Force Institute of Technology as a doctoral candidate.
