Resident of Webster (later Sabattus), Me.; family lived at the Jesse Davis homestead ca. 1948. Jesse Davis was born in Acton, Mass., and later became resident of Webster, Me.; he was nephew of Dr. Jonathan Davis, who was a grantee of the Plymouth Company in the area of Webster. Dr. Davis made an agreement with Jesse Davis allowing him to clear land, build saw and grist mills, a tavern, and a home in Webster. Additionally Jesse Davis was wounded at the Battle of Lexington. His leg was amputated due to his injuries from war and he died in 1792 after surgery.
