Washington Benevolent Society of Massachusetts
The Washington Benevolent Society was organized Feb 22, 1812 "to cherish the principles of Washington, and to aid unfortunate members of the institution". It originated in the office of Nathan Hale, attorney, No. 12 Exchange Street with General Arnold Welles president. There were more than 2000 members. Disolved in 1853.
