Church organized Nov. 1785. In 1809, a bitter dispute arose, which resulted in separation in Jan. 1811, the majority continuing to call themselves Boone's Creek Church and remaining in Elkhorn Association until 1823, when they went into Boone's Creek Association. The minority took the name of Particular Baptists and united with Licking Association, remaining seperated until July, 1835, when they reunited with Boone's Creek Church. When the church divided, the minutes under that date stated that the original record book was to stay with Elkhorn group (Boone's Creek), and a copy was to be made for the Licking Group (Particular Baptists). The minutes of the Elkhorn group for Sept. 14 record that the minority "detained" the old book. This "new" book was then begun by the majority. In July 1835, the two groups reunited.
