Wilson, Graham Malcolm (1917-1977 : Doctor, Professor of Medicine and Therapeutics, University of Glasgow, 1967-1977)
Graham Malcolm Wilson was born on the 16 April 1917. He studied at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, where he was awarded MB ChB (Hons) in 1940 , BSc (Ist class) in 1947 , MD (Thesis Gold Medal) in 1950 and DSc. He became a FRCP London in 1946 , FRCP Edinburgh in 1947 and FRCP Glasgow in 1967 .
From 1965, Wilson was the Professor of Pharmacology and Therapy at the University of Sheffield, England, and consultant physician at the Royal Infirmary, Sheffield. In 1967, he was appointed to the Regius Chair in Medicine and Therapeutics at the University of Glasgow where he was also a consultant physician at the Glasgow Western Infirmary.
Wilson wrote and published numerous papers on endocrine and circulatory disorders as well as medical education. His interest in medical education was recognised by his appointment to the Royal Commission on Medical Education. In 1976, he became chairman of the Safety of Medicines Committee. He died after a long illness on 15 April 1977.
