Dallas Moving Picture Machine Operators Union Local 249-A.
Local 249-A was organized and chartered November 1, 1949, as part of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees and Moving Picture Machine Operators of the United States and Canada. This local was comprised of black motion picture operators in Dallas. Its purpose was to place black men as operators in each Dallas theatre that was patronized exclusively by black patrons. On February 11, 1969 Local 249-A merged with Local 249 which was previously an all white local.
