John Plankinton & Company.
Organized as Layton and Plankinton in 1857. Layton withdrew from partnership in 1861 and Plankinton ran firm until 1863. Renamed Plankinton, Armour & Company in 1863 when Philip D. Armour joined firm. Partnership dissolved in 1884 and Plankinton reorganized firm as John Plankinton & Company adding Patrick Cudahy as his partner. Operated as Cudahy Brothers after Plankinton's retirement in 1888.
