Wendell Pigman (1931-1973) was born in New York City. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the Marine Corps and saw active duty in the Korean War. In 1955, Pigman graduated from Cornell University and went on to earn a master¿s degree from Princeton University¿s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs. In 1964, after working for the Bureau of the Budget and NASA, Pigman was awarded an American Political Science Association fellowship. The same year, he joined Senator Robert F. Kennedy¿s staff and worked with him as a legislative assistant until 1968. Pigman went on to work as an aide for both U.S. Representative Richard D. (Max) McCarthy, Democrat from New York, and U.S. Senator Frank Church, Democrat from Idaho.
