Frizeau, Gabriel
Variant namesFrizeau was a Bordeaux art collector who bought Gauguin's work from Vollard at the turn of the century. He had an abiding passion for collecting Redon's paintings, and the artist and he became friends. He rarely left Bordeaux and relied heavily upon his Paris agents, André Lhote and Ary Leblond (pseudonym of Aimé Merlo). Lhote was a painter, illustrator and critic, Leblond a writer.
