Anthony, John, 1931-
Variant namesBorn Gianantonio Iorio in 1934 in New York, John Anthony attended the High School of Industrial Arts where he won three scholarships. After graduating from the Fashion Institute of Technology, he designed women's suits and dresses for Devonbrook and Adolph Zelinka. He started his own design firm and showed his first collection in 1971, winning a Coty Award for his second collection. Many of his styles are inspired by menswear. His designs are sold strictly as ensembles, never as separates.
