Hartle, Russell P. (Russell Peter), 1889-1961
Variant namesRussell Peter Hartle (1889-1961) was born in Chernsville, Maryland. He received his commission in the infantry in 1910 and served in the Philippines from 1910 and 1912. He advanced to the rank of brigadier general in October 1940. He commanded the U.S. forces in the United Kingdom from January 1942 to July 1943 and the Branch Immaterial Replacement Training Center at Camp Fannin from 1943 to 1945 before retiring in June 1946.
