Richard "Dick" Robbins was the director of the Campus Club Orchestra, a nine piece band with a vocalist. Robbins directed that band at Butler University for four years before forming his own group. Listed in articles of the day as "Dick Robbins and his band," they received local fame during the late 1930s and early 1940s. They became a favorite at Indiana colleges and universities, as well as local clubs and hotels in Indianapolis.
