Gustavus J. Baetcke: During the Civil War served with the rank of Private as Company Clerk for Company A of the 22nd Michigan Infantry Regiment and later transferred to Company A, 29th Michigan Infantry Regiment.

Max R. Baetcke: Served as Corporal in Company C, 1st Infantry Regiment of the Michigan National Guard, 1914. During World War I served as a flyer with the 32d Division.

Bernd G. Baetcke: Served as Captain in the Michigan National Guard, 1940. During World War II, served with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel with the 32nd Infantry Division in the South Pacific. Distinguished himself in the battles of New Guinea and Buna. Promoted to the rank of Colonel and became Regimental Commander, 6th Infantry Regiment, 1954.
