Arthur Geisert was born September 20, 1941, in Dallas, Texas. He began a teaching career, but soon discovered that his real calling was art. He gradually built up a business in prints, and after many rejections, began to publish children's picture books. He has said that he tries to combine a classic etching style with humor and narrative. Many of his pictures feature animals, especially pigs. He was received several wards and honors for his work.
