Schapiro, Jerome B., 1930-2001

Born in Newark New Jersey in 1930, Jerome Schapiro was President of Dixo Company, Inc. a supplier of dry-cleaning products. An expert on textile chemistry he was a member of AATCC and ASTM and was one of two experts named in the FTC Care Label rule for textiles. He was also active in the International Standards organization, working on their sub-committees dealing with laundering and color-fastness. He died on October 30, 2007.Franklin J. Van Antwerpen was born in Patterson, NY on November 28, 1912. He earned his Ph.D. from the New Jersey Institute of Technology and served as Executive Director of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (A.I.Ch.E.) from 1955 until 1978. Prior to this he served as editor of the society magazine CEP and was founder of the AIChE Journal and International Chemical Engineering. He retired in 1978 and died in Doylestown, PA on October 13, 2001.
