John Bright, 1811-1889
John Bright was born in Greenbank in Rochdale, Lancashire, on 16 November 1811. He became a politician, orator and statesman. He was interested in languages, politics, government and political movements. His first wife was Elizabeth, eldest daughter of Jonathan Priestman. Bright married his second wife, Margaret Elizabeth Leatham, daughter of William Leatham of Heath near Wakefield, a banker, on 10 June 1847. She died in 1878. By her he had four sons and three daughters.
