Edith M. Rideout was an English teacher at Cony High School in Augusta, Maine and later moved to Newtonville, Massachusetts and continued to teach. She taught Dorothy Clarke when she was a high school student at Cony High School.
Dorothy Clarke Wilson was born in Gardiner, Maine in 1904. She graduated from Bates College in 1925 and married fellow student Elwin L. Wilson in August of that year. Her writings included plays, essays, biographies, and fiction. She also was a strong advocate for peace and justice. She died in 2003.
